A year of pandemic: notes from an ambulance company in New Jersey in 2020 and 2021.
Our frontline heroes have been the true stars of this pandemic. Everyone from healthcare professionals to cleaning workers and delivery drivers --- so many have stepped up this year.
We can’t thank them enough for the heroic efforts. Here are a few things we’ve learned, and tried to focus on during these challenging times.
Regular team pep talks

We try to let our team know that we’re not going to send them into the field without everything that they need. And we’re always available for calls if they’re unsure or don’t understand something.
Small (and socially distanced) events
Who doesn’t love a drive-thru BBQ?
Connecting on Facebook Workplace
Using FB Workplace allows us to chat and share ideas more easily --- everything from safety info to funny memes helps bring us together.

Pet therapy goes on
Pet therapy reduces stress and promotes social behavior --- for patients and for health care providers alike.
Plenty of PPE, and regular safety workshops
We have really tried to emphasize that everyone is stocked up, safe, well-informed, and up to date at all times.
Mental health resources available
Everyone deserves to have mental health resources available during these tough times. We have made a point to post resources and share information about this important and under-discussed topic.
