We offer a variety of different frameworks for each session, and these classes are free for all On Time employees. So without further adieu, here's what you can expect for EMT Elective classes with us in 2019.

2019 EMT Elective Class Schedule
PreHospital Trauma Life Support Hybrid (12 CEUs)
January 19th, 2019
8:30am to 5pm
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) promotes excellence in trauma patient management through global education of all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. The program is based on a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique person with specific needs. Completion of this course is a total of 12 CEU credits.
Geriatric Emergencies (3 CEUs)
January 23rd, 2019
7:30pm to 10:30pm
Most calls for EMS are from geriatric patients. This course will give you knowledge and skills to help manage the special needs of the ill or injured geriatric patient. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Summer Emergencies (3 CEUs)

In New Jersey, temperatures can climb up to 100 degrees during the summertime and it’s important to be prepared to meet the common emergencies that follow such as heat strokes, insect stings, and more. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Respiratory Emergencies (3 CEUs)

7:30pm to 10:30pm
Access to free airways is the first consideration to emergency respiratory situations, and it’s crucial to understand the different causes such as lung disease and car accidents, in order to approach each patient safely. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Diabetic Emergencies (3 CEUs)
April 24th, 2019
7:30pm to 10:30pm
A quick response to emergencies related to diabetes can save lives as symptoms can quickly turn to high-risk situations. This course will be a guide to recognizing and treating patients with Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypoglycemia, and Hyperglycemia. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Seizures (3 CEUs)
May 15th, 2019
7:30pm to 10:30pm
Seizures are common conditions that EMS personnel will encounter and the medical interventions are crucial to the outcome of a patient. This class will demonstrate timely seizure management, oxygenation, ventilation, the difference of triggers, and more. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Strokes (3 CEUs)
June 19th, 2019
7:30pm to 9:30pm
This class provides a continuing education of a Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) or also known as a stroke, along with how they happen, the signs, symptoms, and how to prevent them. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Childbirth Complications (3 CEUs)
July 17th, 2019
7:30pm to 10:30pm
Understanding pregnancy complications are vital as field providers work with pregnant patients including people with different medical conditions. The course will demonstrate how to identify the changes in anatomy and physiology caused by pregnancy, understanding the complications that can occur in medical and trauma cases, and how to assess and provide treatment to a pregnant patient’s specific needs. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU courses.
Winter Emergencies (3 CEUs)

A guide to responding to cold weather cases such as safety tips, patient protection, treating frostbite and hypothermia, motor vehicle crashes, and more. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
Poisoning Emergencies (3 CEUs)
November 13th, 2019
7:30 to 10:30pm
This class will be a guide to identifying the mechanisms of toxic inhalation, recognizing the injuries caused by the inhalation of toxic chemicals, and determining the treatment for poisoning. Completion of this course is a total of three CEU credits.
